Dr. Rachel Bush specializes in ocular disease management including diabetes and glaucoma. She successfully completed an additional year of advanced training in ocular disease and low vision as the Optometric Resident for Lebanon VA Medical Center in central Pennsylvania. Her residency allowed her to work alongside specialists operating out of Penn State Hershey Medical Center and become familiar with a large spectrum of rare ocular diseases.
An Illinois native, Dr. Bush completed her undergraduate degree in Biology from Loyola University Chicago and was awarded her Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon. While at Pacific University Dr. Bush was elected President for their local Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) Chapter that participates in bi-annual mission trips to central America and Africa. She led and organized a 17-member team to travel to Guatemala where they provided care to over 1500 patients. Their team helped deliver hundreds of glasses, medications and coordinate care with the local cataract surgeon helping improve the lives of the locals in rural northern Guatemala.
Dr. Bush strives to connect to her patients and prides herself on her ability communicate clearly and effectively. She takes the time to explain, in detail, diagnoses impacting her patients to allow them the best outcome. In her free time, you can find Dr. Bush running, gardening or spending time with her family and her 20-year old tuxedo cat.
