Have you considered other options for eye correction surgery? LASIK may not be the right fit and we want you to know all of your options.

Eye Corrections Aside from LASIK

When it comes to correcting your vision, LASIK isn’t the only option.

Let’s look at the other corrective procedures that could help sharpen your vision.

Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK)

Similar to the LASIK procedure, PRK changes the cornea’s shape to fix your nearsighted, farsighted, or astigmatism vision issues. PRK removed the top, thinner layer of the cornea that will regenerate after the procedure, whereas LASIK calls for an incision in the cornea. This difference makes the recovery time longer, but it can be ideal for those with thin corneas, dry eyes, or other considerations that may not be well suited to LASIK.

Visian Implantable Contact Lens (ICL)

Visian ICL is a procedure designed to correct common refractive errors like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. However, unlike LASIK and PRK, the procedure doesn’t make use of lasers. Instead, a surgeon places an implantable collamer lens (ICL) into your eye that works with your natural lens to improve your vision. This makes Visian ICL a good option for patients who have chronically dry eyes or thin or abnormally shaped corneas.

This procedure implants a special lens that covers the natural eye lens to correct the vision. This outpatient procedure only takes about 30 minutes and has a fast recovery time. Most patients will see improved vision within 24 hours of the ICL procedure. It might be the ideal option for patients that have unusual cornea shapes, multiple refractive errors or chronically dry eyes.
