Dr. Frasier: A Great Fit at the Right Time

There’s a new doc on the block, and his name is Kelly J. Frasier, M.D.

Earlier this month, Dr. Frasier joined the Kleiman|Evangelista Eye Center surgical team after making the move from Lubbock with his wife, Jayme, and two little ones, Kaden and Kylee. We’re proud to have him, and the Frasiers are excited to be here.

Here’s his story.

Dr. Frasier grew up in Odessa, Texas and graduated as valedictorian of his high school in 1992. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 1998 from West Texas A&M, and then moved on to San Antonio to get his M.D. at UT School of Medicine in San Antonio. After finishing in 2002, he began the last steps in becoming an ophthalmologist at Texas Tech.

During his senior year of residency, he met his wife, Jayme. While neither of them had planned on staying or starting a life in Lubbock, it was there that he opened his own practice, Frasier Eye Center, in 2006. He and Jayme tied the knot in 2008 and had Kaden that same year; Kylee was born three years later.

Eight years after opening Frasier Eye Center, Dr. Frasier was proud of what he’d accomplished. He had a good practice that even included aesthetics and fitness testing, but he wanted to take it to the next level. That’s when he caught wind of an opportunity with Kleiman|Evangelista Eye Center.

“I just started looking around out of curiosity because we would soon be peaking at what we could do in Lubbock with the facilities and population. I heard about Kleiman|Evangelista needing a physician in the upcoming months and just decided to take a look.”

When Dr. Frasier came out to meet Dr. Kleiman and Dr. Evangelista this summer, he had no expectations. He wasn’t even entirely sure he wanted to leave his practice, but after the meeting, Dr. Frasier felt it was a great fit at the right time. Dr. Kleiman and Dr. Evangelista extensively reviewed his surgical skills, ruled them outstanding and asked Dr. Frasier to join the team.

Jayme’s family lives in Dallas, so that certainly sweetened the deal. At the end of the day, Dr. Frasier knows he made the right choice.

“It was totally unexpected, and I still went back and forth for several weeks. In the end, the guys have just been so encouraging and welcoming that I couldn’t say no. The opportunity for [Jayme] to move closer to family and for me to join an amazing practice at this point in my career just seemed to be what we were supposed to do!”
